Winter Solstice

Jessica Caplan and Sean Hoots on Voice, Synth, Guitar, Tibetan and Crystal Bowls, Shrutti Box, Tuning Forks, Melodica, Charango, Tongue Drum, Sansula

As we approach Winter Solstice and the shortest day of the year, we enter a time where we can gather around the fire, turn inward, and reflect. Musical collaborators Jessica and Sean reunite to create a magical soundscape of ambient beats, healing frequencies and rich vocal harmonies. Vocalist, yoga teacher and therapeutic sound artist Jessica, has been singing and crafting music since she could speak. A graduate of the Open Center’s Sound and Music Integrative Practitioner training, she leads workshops and retreats merging yoga with sound healing and voice, and creates soundscapes for yoga classes, meditation events and sound baths globally. Among her beloved mentors are voice teachers Silvia Nakkach and Bisan Toron, tuning fork pioneer John Beaulieu, and classical North Indian voice teacher Prakhar Utkarsh. Perhaps best known for his work with the touring ensemble Hoots & Hellmouth, Sean is a Philly-based musician writing, recording, and performing music for over two decades in a myriad of styles, from rock to roots to electronic. His recent focus has been on healing modalities within ancient and contemporary music. Catch this new duo, as they evoke the spirit of the Amazonian jungle, where the two musicians recently met.
